Technology has led to the discovery of vaccines and medical treatments. It has brought computers and televisions into people’s homes, and it has provided us with electricity, the internet, phones, cars, planes and much more. But an argument can be made that technology has largely worsened the quality of our lives, polluting the air, making our lives needlessly stressful, and dampening our enthusiasm for books.
If you had to give up one technological advantage that you use all the time, what would it be? Do you think you would be better off without it? Why?
If I had to give up one technological advantage it would have to be my phone. I think everyone would be better off without a phone. I believe that texting, calls, and social media consume to much of our time, and that we can't get that back. As you can see from the chart above, an average smartphone owner uses his/her phone 58 minutes a day. I know the majority of teens, nowadays, use their phone more than a hour a day. Which to me is a waste of time, but I'm glued to my phone all the time as well, which that's why I believe that'd we would be better off without our smartphones.
